Current Available Positions – September  2021

We currently have two positions available in Hico.

Both are based at our Colac Branch.

One is an administrative role and the other for Herd testing. Details for both roles are below.

Administration/Operations Assistant – Colac Branch

  • Part Time Opportunity
  • 9.00am – 3.00pm, Monday to Friday

Hico Colac has a part time opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has solid experience in administration and willing to help out across the various departments when they are experiencing high demands.

This is a broad role, which will further enhance your existing administrative/operations experience and offers an opportunity to grow with the business.  The successful applicant will be trained in all facets of their role as part of their induction and also have other colleagues who work in similar roles in other branches to provide support while you are learning the ropes.

This is a critical role for the Colac team, to ensure that the office is running smoothly, managing incoming calls and the visitors to the branch.  The successful applicant will work closely with the Branch Manager to support them on a day to basis to assist with team scheduling, diary and email management.

So what does an Administrative/Operations Assistant do at Hico?

  • Engage professionally with customers (via phone/email/face to face when they visit our branch)
  • Undertake all administrative/receptionist duties for the branch;
  • Ensure “shop front” is well presented and stock is available for purchase;
  • Liaise with staff from other branches in day-to-day operational requirements;
  • Undertake HR related administrative tasks for Hico (under the direction of our Internal Accountant);
  • Manage the Branch Manager’s emails/diary and assisting with day to day operational needs of the Branch;
  • Assist the Branch Manager with scheduling the team’s on farm activities;
  • Assist out in the laboratory area to assist with cleaning of equipment;
  • Engage with the broader Hico team on a day to day basis.

What do you need to be an Administrative/Operations Assistant?

  • Strong communication skills/able to engage with customers and your team;
  • Strong administrative/operations skills;
  • Strong organisational skills;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite;
  • Proactive, self-motivated and driven;
  • Team player;
  • Willing to learn;
  • Takes pride in the work you do

Herd Tester Opportunity

  • Casual position
  • No experience required

Hico Colac has a casual opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has experience in the dairy industry, or looking for an opportunity to start their career in Herd Improvement.

The successful applicant will be fully trained in all aspects of the role before undertaking the role independently.

Herd Testing is a highly valued service by our customers, as the data captured as part of a herd test, provides each customer with vital information about their herd and helps them make informed decisions about what to do with their herd.

So what does a Herd Tester do?

  • Engage with your allocated customers, ensuring that you are providing efficient and effective service delivery;
  • Pack herd testing equipment into the Hico vehicle and travel to allocated customers;
  • Work with our customers and their team to prepare cows to undertake the testing;
  • Collect samples and return samples to the lab for analysing;
  • Complete paperwork/input into computer system;
  • Engage with the broader Hico team on a day to day basis.

What do you need to be a Herd Tester?

  • Strong communication skills/able to engage with customers and your team;
  • A passion for the dairy industry;
  • Team player;
  • Willing to learn;
  • Proactive;
  • Takes pride in the work you do.
